Convertible Stadium Surface Solutions

undefinedDalton, GA
- Conversion solutions are key to hosting multiple events, and removable panels can streamline changeover operations.

Stadium construction costs continue to escalate, while seating capacities have remained stagnant – and, in some cases, have even been reduced – resulting in considerably higher revenue demands to balance the financial equation.

The average construction cost per seat for NFL stadia is $12,377.41. The new stadium in Inglewood, California – Los Angeles Stadium at Hollywood Park – is estimated to have a construction cost per seat of $69,760.82, making it the highest in the NFL and over 500% above the current NFL stadium average. While the stadium will be home to two NFL teams (The LA Rams and the LA Chargers) its predicted cost of $4.9bn will demand considerable annual revenue to financially justify initial construction costs.

Completed in August of 2012, the Ducks women’s lacrosse and soccer teams play their home games at Papé Field. Papé Field was a gift from longtime donors, Phil and Penny Knight. Phil Knight, co-founder and chairman emeritus of Nike, Inc., earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon and an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business. As of June 2017, Phil and Penny Knight have given away more than $2 billion dollars to his alma mater’s.

Papé Field features an all synthetic turf surface manufactured by Turf Nation. The surface is the M6 and has a 61-ounce face weight, Balanced Matrix fiber spacing and Titanium Shield backing system. The monofilament fibers are made from 100% C8 resins, the highest grade available to the synthetic turf industry.

Papé Field promotes a beautifully branded field, all of which was manufactured by Turf Nation and built utilizing Turf Nation’s state-of-the-art computerized water jet cutting table, integrated design studio and experienced team. Applied Surfacing Technology Proud to Partner with Turf Nation, Manufacturer of Pro Bowl Surface at Aloha Stadium

undefinedNoticeably absent from this Sunday’s Pro Bowl game will not only be players from the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons as they prepare for Super Bowl LI in two weeks, but the beautiful scenery players, coaches and fans are accustomed to seeing virtually every year. This year, the game is being played in Orlando instead of the venue most associated with the NFL All-Star game, Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii. Since 1980, the Pro Bowl had been played at Aloha Stadium all but three times prior to the game being moved to Camping World Stadium this year.

undefinedDuring its lifespan, Aloha Stadium has gone through a series of renovations, including replacement of its playing surface. For the previous two Pro Bowls at Aloha Stadium, Applied Surfacing Technology (AST), Hawaii’s most experienced installer of synthetic turf fields, installed a professional-grade artificial turf system from Turf Nation. AST — which also worked with Turf Nation on the field for John Kauinana Stadium at Mililani High School (pictured, left), Kamehameha Schools Maui, McKinley High School in Honolulu, and Kaneohe Marine Corps Base — is proud to continue offering turf systems manufactured by Turf Nation in Hawaii as well as the South Pacific region.

“The quality and consistency of the Turf Nation turf is fantastic,” said AST’s Denny Sadowski. “And their logo work, nobody does it better. The best logo we’ve ever had was one they completed recently for McKinley High School.”

Turf Nation stadium surfaces are manufactured using the highest grade C8 polyethylene fiber, which helps ensure superior performance and durability. All components of a Turf Nation synthetic turf system are manufactured in the U.S., and each surface is custom-designed to a

team’s or school’s specific needs. All synthetic turf surfaces are field-tested by an independent laboratory prior to shipping.

undefined“We are thrilled to continue our long-lasting relationship with Denny and the great folks at AST,” said Turf Nation President Sid Nicholls. “Their professionalism and installation expertise is among the best in the nation; they truly are everything you could hope for in a partner.”

Sadowski echoed Nicholls’ sediment. “Sid is an honest, professional business man. If you need something turned out quick, he’ll figure out a way to do it for you. And the people he has working for him, they are golden. They are so customer service oriented, it’s a treat to work with them.”

Turf Nation manufactures high-quality synthetic turf fields for all levels, including the professional level where 14 NFL teams practice and/or play on a surface manufactured by Turf Nation. This includes MetLife Stadium (New York Giants, New York Jets), Mercedes-Benz Superdome (New Orleans Saints), Paul Brown Stadium (Cincinnati Bengals), U.S. Bank Stadium (Minnesota Vikings) as well as the home to Super Bowl LI, NRG Stadium (Houston Texans). The Super Bowl on February 5 is the third time in the past five years that the sport’s biggest game will have been played on a surface manufactured by Turf Nation.
